A gasket is a mechanical seal which fills the space between two or more mating surfaces, generally to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression. Sheet gaskets are used to create custom gaskets. Cam-and-groove gaskets provide a tight seal between couplings in low-pressure fluid applications such as regulators and pumps.
